John Coffin - Director

John has been a barbershopper for over 50 years, and a certified Performance Judge for 29 years. Since moving to Denver, CO in 1980, John has been a member of five different choruses, director in four, and earned Barbershopper of the Year from four. John has served as the Rocky Mountain District Vice President of Contest and Judging for 26 years, and has coached quartets and choruses, and taught classes at Harmony Schools across the Rocky Mountain District. In 1992, many of these activities earned him the Rocky Mountain District Barbershopper of the Year. In 2023 he was inducted into the Rocky Mountain District Hall of Fame.

John is currently co-director of the Denver Mountainaires “Colorado Chord Company” chorus, sings in the Denver “Sound of the Rockies” chorus and has been a member of several quartets. He sings in the Praise Team and choir at Our Savior’s Church.

John enjoys Broadway musicals and has season tickets to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. He enjoys traveling to tropical locations for vacations, and recently retired as a Sr Software Engineer for Ophir Corporation, a small aerospace company.
