Harmony Camp

The Denver MountainAires revived the Annual High School Quartet Contest in 1999 and in 2001 began Summer Harmony Camp, all of which was initially funded entirely by our chapter. Along the way we picked up the support of the Region 8 Sweet Adelines and then Harmony Foundation. Their help was greatly appreciated, but today neither organization supports these efforts, yet we continue to meet the needs of the younger generation as they seek to explore the Barbershop genre in the world of A Cappella.

Reasons to consider joining our Youth Outreach Support Team

Since 2001, Summer Harmony Camp has introduced over 1,000 students to barbershop harmony. Our outstanding clinicians and music faculty as well as our dedicated staff all donate their time and talent as 100% volunteers, enabling us to keep the tuition for Camp insanely low. We also thank the Estes Park YMCA for making our costs so reasonable. We have had many of our student alumni return as music faculty and staff, for which we are very proud.

Despite the generosity of all of the above, costs increase and we also have many students whose families cannot afford our modest tuition of $90 for the entire weekend (covers lodging, food, music, T-shirt, social activities, etc.).

Students have the opportunity to earn scholarships to Camp by participating in the High School Quartet Contest, where EVERY participant earns a 50% scholarship to Summer Harmony Camp, and the contest winners earn 100% scholarship. Awards and scholarships for each annual contest can exceed over $2,000.

Your support keeps Summer Harmony Camp alive and keeps barbershop harmony alive for future generations. Please consider a monthly donation through ColoradoGives...it's painless and every month you will receive a THANK YOU Email to remind you of your philanthropy (and it's tax-deductible).
